Columbus, Indiana – Travis Kevin Gatewood, 32, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on September 18, 2025, at 6:12 a.m.
Born March 7,1993,in Columbus,he was the son of Tracy Kevin Gatewood and Deanna Raye (Mace) Jessee. A lifelong resident of Bartholomew County, Travis worked as a heavy machine operator for Gehring Underground.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time outdoors, and cherished moments with friends, family, and his children.Travis married Rhea Dawn Ghislain on August 9, 2011, in Greensburg, and she survives.
Other survivors include his father, Tracy (Paula) Gatewood of Westport; his mother, deanna (Greg) Jessee of Columbus; daughters, Gracie Gatewood and Trystan Gatewood, both of Columbus; son, jackson Gatewood of Columbus; father-in-law, Todd Davis of westport; sister-in-law, Aryn (Landon Shera) Davis of Westport; niece, Zaylah Brown of Westport; and nephew, Zayden Brown of Westport.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents,Jack and Judy Gatewood,Jerry and Beverly Mace,and his mother-in-law,Angie Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m.on Wednesday,September 24,2025,at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport,with Pastor Dennis Chastain officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. too 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention through the funeral home.
