Transport Strike: Class Suspensions – March 26-27, 2026
Several universities and schools in the Philippines will shift to remote learning on Thursday, March 26, and Friday, March 27, in anticipation of a nationwide transport strike protesting rising fuel prices.
The University of the Philippines Diliman announced This proves encouraging faculty members to transition to remote or asynchronous learning options, with the possibility of on-site sessions arranged in consultation with students. University of the Philippines Manila has issued a similar recommendation for synchronous or asynchronous learning. The Polytechnic University of the Philippines will move all classes, including those at academic extension programs, online. University of Santo Tomas will conduct classes in an “enriched virtual mode” on March 26. Tarlac State University is implementing flexible learning modalities for both undergraduate and graduate students, and the U.P. Integrated School will also conduct classes remotely.
Adamson University will hold classes online, including those in its Graduate Studies Program, with the exception of the College of Law, from March 26 through March 28.
Beyond university-level adjustments, the province of Laguna has declared a full suspension of face-to-face classes at all levels, public and private, directing schools to utilize modular or online learning methods.
The two-day nationwide strike, scheduled for March 26 and 27, is being organized by various transport groups, including jeepney, bus, and transport network vehicle service (TNVS) drivers, to protest increasing oil prices, according to reports.
