isaac Del Toro Wins Gran Piemonte 2025, Securing 15th Victory of Season
Turin, Italy – Isaac Del Toro (UAE Team Emirates XRG) claimed victory at the 108th Gran Piemonte on Thursday, marking his 15th win of the 2025 season. The Mexican rider powered clear of a strong breakaway on the second ascent, ultimately holding off challenges from Bauke Mollema (Lidl-Trek) and Marc Hirschi (Tudor Pro Cycling Team).
The race, a key warm-up event before Saturday’s Tour of Lombardy, saw an early breakaway featuring Victor Langelotti (INEOS Grenadiers), Matteo Trentin (Tudor Pro Cycling Team), Quinten Hermans (Alpecin-Deceuninck), and Jan Tratnik (Red Bull-bora-Hansgrohe).However, the decisive moves came on the Castelletto d’Erro climb (6.1 km at 5.2%), where accelerations from Hirschi, Mollema, and Juan Ayuso (Movistar Team) formed a chasing group that eventually joined the leaders.
del Toro launched his attack during the second ascent, bridging to the front before dropping Hirschi and then Mollema. Fabio Christen secured fourth place by winning the sprint within the peloton.
The win comes after Neilson Powless’ victory in 2024 and positions Del Toro as a strong contender heading into the final Monument of the season.
