Toulouse Lutte Secures Fifth straight Victory at Nègrepelisse Challenge

Nègrepelisse, France – Toulouse⁢ Lutte dominated the‌ 34th annual ⁢wrestling​ challenge in Nègrepelisse, claiming their⁣ fifth consecutive ‍team title and solidifying their⁢ position as a ‌leading force in French wrestling.‌ The competition, held this past weekend, drew a strong contingent of athletes from across ​France and Spain, showcasing high-level ‍wrestling from clubs in regions⁣ including Occitanie,‍ Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and Rhône-alpes.

The annual challenge ⁢is a cornerstone event for⁢ wrestling in the ​Occitanie‍ region, attracting over 50 teams and serving as a crucial proving ground‌ for⁣ athletes. This year’s success for Toulouse⁤ Lutte ​underscores the club’s organizational strength and⁤ its ability ⁢to foster top-tier talent, while also highlighting the ⁢importance of regional and local support⁢ for the sport.⁤

Alongside Toulouse’s team victory, individual wrestlers shone. Émilie Bastides and Romain Ory secured first-place finishes, ⁤while Léana Mutsaerts took second. Maël ‍Réaume and Timéo Belvèze each ‌earned bronze medals, contributing to a ​strong overall performance for SCN⁣ Lutte.⁣ The ‍local Nègrepelisse⁤ club achieved a commendable 11th-place finish among the 51 ⁤participating teams.

“This 34th edition illustrates the success of the club, which demonstrates, once again, its ability to organise one of the biggest wrestling events in Occitania,” stated Francis Mutsaerts,‍ President⁢ of the Nègrepelisse club, visibly moved during the event’s closing ceremonies. ⁣”This ​success is based above all on the support of our partners,⁢ the town ​of⁣ Nègrepelisse, the department of Tarn-et-Garonne, the Occitanie region and all the companies that support us, without forgetting our volunteers, always present and dedicated.”​

Euskadi finished second in ​the team standings, followed by a tie for third between Calafell (spain) and Montauban Lutte.
