Tottenham Hotspur Launches Venture Platform Alongside Latest Sports Partnerships

September 11, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Tottenham Hotspur has launched Hotspur Labs in partnership with The Players Fund, becoming the first Premier League club to establish a dedicated venture platform designed to secure early access to scalable commercial technologies. The newly formed incubator operates through a structured selection mechanism built alongside TPF Labs, a specialized division created by The Players Fund to establish innovation infrastructure for sports rights-holders. According to official club disclosures, TPF Labs assesses prospective applicants against Tottenham Hotspur’s specific strategic priorities before presenting a curated shortlist to club leadership. This pipeline model seeks to integrate high-growth enterprises directly into the club’s existing commercial ecosystem.

Venture Capital Infrastructure and Revenue Diversification

Ryan Norys, Chief Revenue Officer at Tottenham Hotspur, explained the operational thesis behind the launch. By backing ambitious businesses early, the club aims to help emerging companies reach new audiences while establishing meaningful ties with brands that match its organizational culture and values. Andy Marston, Managing Director of TPF Labs at The Players Fund, noted that the model is structured so that businesses backed today can transform into headline club partners in future years, fundamentally reshaping how professional football clubs handle corporate sponsorships.

Selected entities gain direct entry into Tottenham’s commercial platform, utilizing the stadium, digital channels, and global fanbase in exchange for equity stakes and co-development agreements. This financial architecture mitigates standard sponsorship volatility by transforming brand relationships into equity-backed assets.

Digital Infrastructure and Global Brand Partnerships Across English Sport

Charlton Athletic confirmed an official partnership with cybersecurity firm Surfshark for the 2026/27 EFL Championship campaign. Surfshark will function as the club’s official Virtual Private Network partner, utilizing Charlton’s digital channels to promote online data privacy products to supporters globally.

Ella Ellis, Commercial Manager at Charlton Athletic, highlighted that the collaboration includes tailored commercial incentives for supporters, featuring discounted software bundles alongside fan engagement activations. Concurrently, Volleyball England announced a five-year extension of its technology partnership with SportLoMo. The expanded framework removes annual licensing, subscription, and implementation barriers for regional associations, leagues, and clubs across England while introducing the VolleyZone mobile application to streamline membership and competition management.

Charlie Ford, Chief Executive of Volleyball England, emphasized that connectivity remains the primary driver of the renewed agreement. SportLoMo Founder and CEO Seamus Kyne noted that putting administrative tools directly into the hands of regional coaches and players closes the operational gap between grassroots participants and national governing bodies.

Elite Crossover Content and Grassroots Community Investment

EA SPORTS paired Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham for a promotional campaign titled Spanish Slow Mornings. Filmed ahead of track action at Madrid’s Madring circuit, the social media crossover highlights the publisher’s strategy of utilizing cross-disciplinary sports stars to promote F1 25 across global digital channels.

At the community level, the London Marathon Foundation committed up to £2.4m over the next five years to Access Sport, expanding youth cycling and basketball initiatives across London, Manchester, and Scotland. This renewed funding builds on more than £2.3m invested since 2018. Helen Rowbotham, CEO of Access Sport, stated that the initiative targets participation among 22,500 young people by 2031 while training 1,350 coaches and volunteers. The announcement coincided with the official reopening of a renovated basketball court at Gibbons Recreation Ground in London, delivered in partnership with Brent Council and Basketball England.
