Top 4 iPad Mini Rivals in April 2026: Powerful Android Tablets with AnTuTu Scores Over 4 Million, OLED Displays, and Gaming Performance to Match Apple’s Best

April 26, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Lenovo has officially unveiled the Legion Tab Gen 5, positioning it as a direct challenger to Apple’s iPad Mini with specifications targeting gaming and high-performance tablet users. The device features a 14.5-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 165Hz, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, according to product details released ahead of its global launch.

The tablet’s display technology marks a significant upgrade over previous generations, offering deeper contrast and faster response times ideal for gaming and multimedia consumption. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, fabricated on a 3nm process, delivers improved CPU and GPU performance while maintaining power efficiency, enabling sustained high-frame-rate gameplay without thermal throttling under normal conditions.

Lenovo emphasized thermal management as a core design focus, incorporating a vapor chamber cooling system and graphite layers to dissipate heat during extended use. The company claims this allows the device to maintain peak performance for longer durations compared to competitors in the same segment, particularly during GPU-intensive tasks such as 3D rendering or high-frame-rate gaming.

Storage options initiate at 256GB of UFS 4.0 flash memory, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, ensuring fast data access and multitasking capabilities. The tablet includes a 10,200mAh battery supporting 68W fast charging, which Lenovo states can replenish 80% of capacity in approximately 35 minutes.

Audio performance is enhanced through a quad-speaker system tuned with Dolby Atmos, aiming to deliver immersive soundscapes for gaming and media. Input flexibility is supported via USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, which enables DisplayPort output for external monitor connectivity and compatibility with Lenovo’s Legion Precision Stylus and Bluetooth gaming controllers.

The device runs on Android 15 with Lenovo’s ZUI 16 interface layered on top, offering customizable performance modes, game-specific optimizations, and a dedicated gaming hub that aggregates launcher, performance controls, and screen recording tools. Software updates are promised for three years of major Android versions and four years of security patches.

Pricing and regional availability have not yet been disclosed, though industry sources indicate a launch window in Q3 2026 across key markets including Europe, North America, and select Asian territories. Lenovo has not confirmed whether the Legion Tab Gen 5 will be sold through carrier partnerships or exclusively via direct and retail channels.

Competitors in the premium small-tablet space, including Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S9 series and Apple’s iPad Mini (7th generation), continue to dominate market share, though none currently offer a 165Hz OLED display or Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in a sub-15-inch form factor. The Legion Tab Gen 5’s specifications place it at the forefront of Android tablet performance benchmarks, particularly in GPU-heavy workloads as measured by AnTuTu and GFXSuite.

Early benchmark leaks suggest the device achieves over 4.2 million points in AnTuTu v10, surpassing the iPad Mini’s typical score range and positioning it among the highest-scoring Android tablets to date. However, real-world performance consistency under prolonged load remains to be validated through independent testing post-launch.

Lenovo has not issued any official statements regarding partnerships with game developers for optimized titles or exclusive content bundles at launch. The company’s gaming division continues to focus on hardware innovation, with the Legion Tab Gen 5 representing its most ambitious entry into the premium tablet market to date.
