Tomodachi Life Japan Demo Released – Try the Life Simulation!
Nintendo has released a demo version of Tomodachi Life Friends Collection Dream Life in Japan, according to an announcement made during Nintendo Direct 2025.9.12. The game, a revival of the popular life simulation series, is slated for a Spring 2026 release on the Nintendo Switch.
The game takes place on a floating island where Mii characters live and interact. Players assume the role of the island’s administrator, selecting which Mii residents to invite. Players can create Mii representations of friends, family, or even themselves, customizing their personalities and voices to create unique characters.
Once created, Mii characters will live independently on the island, occasionally requesting assistance from the player or reacting to gifts. Relationships will develop between the Mii characters, potentially leading to friendships, as reported by GNN.
Nintendo first announced the game’s development during the Nintendo Direct broadcast on September 12, 2025. A subsequent announcement on September 15, 2025, detailed the game’s release window and provided further information about gameplay features. The game’s official website has also been updated with additional details.
Tomodachi Life Friends Collection Dream Life marks the return of the series after a decade-long hiatus. The original Tomodachi Life was released on the Nintendo 3DS, and the new iteration is designed specifically for the Nintendo Switch platform.
