ECW Legend Tommy Dreamer Believed Key Star Was Missing From WWE NXT Homecoming
FULL SAIL UNIVERSITY, FL – Wrestling icon Tommy Dreamer expressed his disappointment that kevin Owens wasn’t present at WWE’s “NXT Homecoming” event last Tuesday, despite acknowledging the show’s successful tribute to the developmental brand’s foundational performers. Dreamer voiced his thoughts on the “Busted Open After Dark” podcast, highlighting Owens’ meaningful role in establishing NXT’s “black and gold” era.
While appreciating the appearances of stars like finn Balor, Rhea Ripley, Sami Zayn, and #DIY, Dreamer felt Owens’ absence was noticeable, particularly given his recovery from a recent neck injury. The event, held at Full Sail University, aimed to celebrate NXT’s history and the wrestlers who helped build its prominence within WWE.
“Me personally, would have loved to have seen Kevin Owens,” Dreamer stated on the podcast. “I saw him on clips. I just would have liked to have seen Kevin Owens because we haven’t seen him with his neck surgery… I felt he was a big key figure for that whole black and gold brand. Great to see again all the cameos. sami zayn, Finn Balor, Damian Priest. Everybody realy helped add to the story of the building and their connection that it has for them. Bobby Roode and his ‘Glorious’ and the Joe Hendry thing was awesome.Again, ‘NXT’ does tributes and does paying homage to the past better than pretty much almost anybody.”
Owens, who underwent neck surgery this summer following an injury sustained in January, is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of 2024. His contributions as a former NXT Champion were instrumental in shaping the brand’s identity during its critically acclaimed “black and gold” period.
