Tokyo Disneyland Announces Space Mountain Earthrise and 2027 Tomorrowland Attractions
Tokyo Disneyland has officially announced that its rebuilt indoor roller coaster, scheduled to open in 2027, will be named Space Mountain: Earthrise. The updated project, first announced by Tokyo Disney Resort in 2022, moves beyond a simple track replacement. Walt Disney Imagineering aims to alter the thematic narrative of the space entirely. Staggered Openings and Tomorrowland Redevelopment Timeline
Rather than relying on a single, congested grand opening, Tokyo Disney Resort is staggering its 2027 debut schedule across the calendar year. According to the official announcements tracked by Blooloop and Laughing Place, the park will first open a brand-new attraction themed after the Disney film Wreck-It Ralph, titled Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue, in the spring of 2027. Space Mountain: Earthrise and the surrounding Tomorrowland Plaza will follow later in the year.
Complementing the new coaster, the redesigned Tomorrowland Plaza is being engineered to depict a future where humanity exists in harmony with nature, according to Owen Yoshino, Senior Creative Director for Walt Disney Imagineering, as noted by Disney Parks Blog. The architectural refresh incorporates resting zones, distinct design icons, and an evening lighting and soundscape package designed to cultivate a sense of ecological awareness.
