TNI Updates Investigation into Acid Attack on KontraS Activist
The Indonesian Military Police (Puspom TNI) has acknowledged public pressure to release the identities of four TNI soldiers implicated in the acid attack against activist Andrie Yunus, but stated that the investigation remains ongoing.
“I need to convey that until now, the investigation process regarding the four personnel suspected of committing abuse against Brother AY is still underway,” said TNI spokesperson Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah on Monday, March 23, 2026, when confirming the matter.
Nasrullah requested the public to await the completion of the investigation. “Please wait until the entire investigation process by investigators from Puspom TNI is completed,” he added.
The call for transparency follows a demand from the Advocacy Team for Democracy, which urged Puspom TNI to be transparent regarding the designation of the four soldiers as suspects in the attack on Andrie Yunus. The team specifically requested the release of the soldiers’ photos to the public for independent verification.
“We are also following the investigation by the TNI Military Police Center (Puspom TNI), which at the same time stated that it had ‘secured’ four TNI personnel as suspected perpetrators with the identities of Captain NDP, First Lieutenant SL, First Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant Two ES,” the Advocacy Team for Democracy stated on Monday, March 23.
“we urge Puspom TNI to be transparent and accountable by releasing photos or showing the perpetrators directly so that the truth can be verified by the public independently,” the team continued.
Puspom TNI has identified the four suspects as members of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS), drawn from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU). The head of Puspom TNI, Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto, confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and are being further investigated.
