Tlalnepantla: Free Measles Vaccination Clinics – Feb 17-18

by Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor

Tlalnepantla de Baz authorities are reinforcing vaccination efforts this week, establishing temporary modules to administer measles vaccines in response to a recent increase in cases across the State of Mexico. The initiative, a collaboration between the municipal government, the local branch of the National System for Integral Family Development (DIF), and the State of Mexico Health Institute (ISEM), aims to bolster population immunity.

On Tuesday, February 17th, a vaccination module was set up at the “Dr. Jorge Jiménez Cantú” health center, located on Avenida Acueducto, near the Emiliano Zapata Primary School. Today, Wednesday, February 18th, vaccinations are being offered in Tlalnepantla Centro, on Avenida Hidalgo, in front of the Universidad Tres Culturas. Both locations will operate from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Individuals seeking vaccination are required to present their CURP (Unique Population Registry Code) or vaccination card to verify their immunization status and receive the appropriate dose. Authorities are as well mandating the use of face masks at the vaccination sites as a preventative health measure.

The municipal government emphasized that vaccination remains one of the most effective tools for preventing disease and avoiding severe complications, urging parents to review their children’s vaccination records and utilize the available modules. This effort is part of the current municipal administration’s broader health protection strategies.

According to data released by the State of Mexico Health Secretariat on February 10th, 56 cases of measles have been recorded in the state, with a recent surge in cases occurring over a three-day period. The state government has installed 450 vaccination points throughout the State of Mexico, aiming to administer over 400,000 doses. Vaccination is available to residents under the age of 50, with a particular focus on children. Additional vaccination sites are located within Health Centers and medical units operated by institutions like IMSS-Bienestar and traditional IMSS facilities.

Modules were also previously established at the Escuela Eva Samano on February 11th and the Escuela Insurgentes on February 12th. The Clínica de Consulta Externa Tlalnepantla offered vaccinations on February 12th and 13th, with extended hours from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The Explanada ISSEMyM and Hospital Regional Tlalnepantla ISSEMyM are also participating in the vaccination campaign, offering services on February 14th and through February 15th, respectively.
