Purple Aces to Compete at A3 Invite This Weekend
CARBONDALE, Ill. – The University of Evansville swimming and diving team will travel to Shea Natatorium in Carbondale, Illinois, this weekend to compete in the A3 Invite, beginning Friday, November 15th. Prelims are scheduled to start at 10 a.m. each day, with finals taking place at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The A3 Invite will feature the Purple Aces alongside Omaha, Eastern Illinois, Bellarmine, and southern Illinois. UE is coming off a dual meet against USI and Indiana State on October 25th, were several swimmers achieved notable results.
Grace Moody led the Aces in their last competition, securing victories in both the 50-free (23.80) and 100-free (51.56). Her 100-free time ranks sixth in program history, while her 50-free win was 0.72 seconds ahead of the competition. Moody also contributed to wins in the 200-medley and 200-free relays.
Alex willis also had a strong performance, winning the 100-fly with a time of 50.97 and finishing second in the 200-fly (1:53.45), a time that places him tenth on the UE all-time list.Claire mewbourne was victorious in the 200-breaststroke (2:25.21) and placed third in the 100-breaststroke (1:06.44). Evelyn chin topped the field in the 100-fly (56.25).
On the men’s side, Joseph Capo earned wins in both the 200-free (1:41.62) and 500-free (4:43.39). Logan Tenison secured victories in both the 100-backstroke (50.69) – setting the No. 10 time in program history - and the 200-backstroke (1:54.69). Sammy McCall and Michael Pruett finished first and second, respectively, in the 100-free (46.58 and 46.72).
