Brno hockey club owner Petr Zábranský sharply criticized comments made regarding his team’s roster decisions, specifically responding to concerns raised by Pardubice‘s management following a player transfer. Zábranský dismissed any external input into his club’s lineup construction and stated he was surprised by Pardubice’s public complaints after they had already approved the transfer.
The dispute centers on the composition of HC Kometa Brno’s team, with Zábranský asserting complete autonomy over player selection. He expressed bewilderment at the intervention, emphasizing the pride felt by the club, the city of Brno, and the entire South Moravia region regarding their autonomous operation. Zábranský also stated he expected a direct communication from Pardubice’s representative, Martin Čonka, should there be any issues, but added, “Čonka? I don’t know him.”
“Comet, no one will have a say in this,” Zábranský declared. “Our club, the city of Brno and the whole of South Moravia are very proud that someone would comment in this way on what is happening here. We also take care of ourselves and no one else – we are not going to talk about such things.” The exchange highlights the competitive tensions within the Czech Extraliga, where player movement and team building are closely scrutinized.
