Your Party Solidifies Name, faces Internal Division at Inaugural Conference
Brighton, UK – November 28, 2025 – Your Party members have voted to formally adopt the party’s name, but the decision was reached amidst a deeply fractured first conference marked by clashes over ideological direction and membership rules. the conference, held this weekend, revealed significant rifts within the newly formed political group, threatening to derail its ambitions of becoming a leading force on the left.
Founded by Jeremy Corbyn, Your Party aims to establish a “socialist party of mass appeal,” challenging what Corbyn described as a “triopoly of political thinking in parliament.” However, the party’s launch has been plagued by internal conflict, a troubled membership rollout, and now, open warfare between factions vying for control.
A key point of contention centered around Zarah Sultana, whose speech advocating for Your Party to become an anti-Zionist party and “sever all ties with the genocidal apartheid state of Israel” ignited further debate.the conference also saw calls from the stage for the removal of the current leadership.
Members did approve a measure championed by Sultana’s faction allowing dual membership with other political groups, passing with 69.2% to 30.8%. This vote followed Sultana’s refusal to enter the conference hall in protest of the expulsion of delegates linked to other leftwing parties, which she labeled a “witch-hunt.” Any prospective members from other parties will require ratification by the party’s new executive and conference to ensure alignment with Your Party’s values.
Corbyn acknowledged “mistakes” in the party’s foundation and urged unity, stating entry was conditional on non-alignment with parties registered with the Electoral Commission.
The internal strife has already led to the departure of two autonomous MPs, Adnan hussain and Iqbal Mohamed, who cited persistent infighting as a reason for withdrawing from the party’s founding process.
Your Party now faces the challenge of navigating these internal divisions while concurrently competing with the Green party, currently gaining momentum under its new leader, Zack Polanski, for the position of leading the left-wing opposition to Labor.
