Jericho’s contract with AEW reportedly expired in September, leaving him a free agent and sparking speculation about a potential return to WWE. AEW President Tony Khan recently stated the company is giving Jericho “time and space” to determine his next move. The Young Bucks’ statements underscore the high regard AEW leadership holds for Jericho’s contributions, both in-ring and as a foundational figure for the company launched in 2019.
When asked what steps they could take as executives to retain Jericho, Nick Jackson stated, “He’s a founding father, so of course we want him to stay.” Matt Jackson added simply,”I love Chris Jericho.” Nick continued, explaining the current approach, “We’re not sure where he’s at headspace-wise right now. I know he’s, like, on a break. And he’s trying to figure it out on his own. and sometimes you gotta let a wrestler like that figure it out on his own.”
