Morecambe, England – An 18-year-old boxer, Leo Mountain, died after being struck by a truck in Morecambe on April 20th, following a night out with friends. Authorities have concluded a judicial examination into the incident, determining the death resulted from a traffic accident with no suspicion of criminal activity.
Mountain, a north West region champion as September, was described by Leo’s Boxing Club as possessing “a master’s heart both inside and outside the ring.” The club stated,”You are a master forever in our hearts and thoughts. You will always be missing.”
According too forensic doctor Emma Mather, the truck driver reported seeing something resembling a “black garbage bag” on the road and had “only one to two seconds” to react before the collision. The driver discovered he had struck Mountain, who was lying on the road, and emergency services were unable to save his life.
The investigation revealed Mountain had “high levels of alcohol in the body” at the time of the incident. Friends had placed him in a taxi, and he exited the vehicle to walk around the city before ending up on the road.
“this is an incredibly tragic case and I am so sorry for his family. I can’t imagine how his family must feel after this loss. He seems to have been a nice young man,” said Mather.
Leo’s Boxing Club further remembered him as “an amazing young man” with an “infectious personality” who “spread laughter and joy in every room.” They added,”Imagine that his messy smile, his joke and his presence will no longer be here is inconceivable. He had so much to give the world and his journey had just begun.”
