no.14 Wisconsin Completes Border Battle Sweep of Minnesota
MADISON, Wis. – The No. 14 Wisconsin Badgers secured a weekend sweep of rival Minnesota, defeating the Golden Gophers in their second matchup at the Kohl Center. The Badgers finished a six-game homestand undefeated, bolstering their record and opening Big Ten conference play with a decisive victory.
This sweep marks a significant early-season achievement for Wisconsin, establishing them as contenders in the conference and building momentum heading into a challenging road series. Quinn Finley and Simon Tassy remain the only two Badgers to have scored in every series this season, demonstrating consistent offensive contributions. The victory was further highlighted by goaltender Daniel Hauser’s second shutout of the season, following a 3-0 win at Lindenwood on Oct. 3.
head Coach Mike hastings emphasized the importance of fan support, stating, “We need [the fans] for this place to be special, as they are such a big part of it.When you can go through a six-game homestand and not lose a hockey game, I think you want to give people a reason to come back.”
Freshman forward Blake Montgomery echoed that sentiment, adding, “It just fuels our confidence really well moving forward, especially with a big weekend next week. So it’s just that mindset, we can keep it. We can keep it rolling.” Junior forward quinn Finley also noted the impact of the energized crowd, saying, “Hearing all the fans and the students come tonight…when that place is packed, it’s loud. It definitely helps us and gives us energy, and we build off that.”
Wisconsin will next travel to Ann Arbor to face No. 2 Michigan in a two-game series on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7-8,with both games beginning at 6 p.m. CT and streaming on B1G+. audio coverage will be available on the Badger Radio Network, the Badgers app, and the Varsity network app. Fans can also follow updates on X/Twitter and Instagram at @BadgerMHockey.
