WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men’s golf team secured a narrow 319-327 victory over cross-town rival King’s College Thursday afternoon at the Wyoming valley Country Club, continuing a strong start to their fall season.
This win marks the second time in two weeks the Colonels have defeated the Monarchs, improving Wilkes’ overall fall record to 3-0. The result highlights the growing competitiveness of the Wilkes men’s golf program and sets the stage for an upcoming tri-match against King’s and the University of Scranton.
Jaden Bleiler of Wilkes led all golfers, achieving a career-best score of 75 (+3). dane Schutter followed closely with a 78, while Brady Noone carded a 79, contributing substantially to the team’s total. Ryan Hacker posted an 87, Matthew Carlson finished with an 89, and Daniel Nau recorded a 93 for Wilkes.
King’s College was led by AJ Borchert, who registered a team-low 77. Max Bowen added an 81,Brendan Peasey shot an 84,Connor smig finished with an 85,and Jeremy Layland and Aiden Wiedlich both contributed scores of 89 and 94,respectively.
Wilkes will return to competition next Thursday, participating in a tri-match against king’s and Scranton at Glen Oak Country Club, with a scheduled start time of 1:00 p.m.
