Whirlpool to Invest $300 Million in Ohio Manufacturing Facilities
Clyde, Ohio – Whirlpool Corporation announced a $300 million investment across its Clyde and Greenville, Ohio manufacturing facilities, bolstering U.S. production of washers and dryers. The funding will modernize equipment, expand capacity, and support approximately 2,000 jobs in the region.
The investment comes as demand for American-made appliances remains strong and as whirlpool emphasizes its commitment to domestic manufacturing. Founded over 110 years ago, Whirlpool currently maintains the largest U.S. manufacturing operations in the home appliance industry, employing 20,000 people in the U.S., including over 14,000 at its 10 manufacturing plants. This latest move reinforces the company’s position as the only major U.S.-based manufacturer of kitchen and laundry appliances with such a significant domestic workforce.
“We are proud to reinforce our commitment to the communities and plants where generations have not only built appliances but careers, families and futures,” said Kristin Day, vice president of U.S. manufacturing at Whirlpool. “This investment builds on that legacy, enhancing our manufacturing capabilities and ensuring we can continue producing world-class appliances right here in America.”
The Clyde facility will receive $180 million for washer production, while Greenville will receive $120 million for dryer manufacturing. The upgrades are expected to be completed over the next three years.
As of market close today, Whirlpool Corp. (WHR) stock was trading at $73.16, down $0.88 or -1.19%.
