Cavaliers Face SMU in Sunday’s ACC Championship Match
DURHAM, N.C. – The Virginia Cavaliers men’s soccer team will compete for their 17th ACC Championship title on November 16,2025,when they face SMU at Koskinen Stadium. This marks Virginia’s fourth appearance in the ACC Semifinal in the last four years, continuing a period of sustained success for the program.
The Cavaliers secured their place in the championship game following a dominant run through the tournament, highlighted by victories over Louisville (1-0 on September 13, 2025) adn Wake Forest (6-3 on September 19, 2025), as well as a road win against NC State (1-0 on October 5, 2025). As an 11-seed in the 2024 NCAA tournament, UVA earned a first-round bye for the third consecutive season-a feat achieved by only five other programs nationwide. Virginia is the sole program too have secured multiple top-eight seeds during this three-year stretch.
This championship game represents a notable opportunity for the Cavaliers to add to their already notable legacy within the ACC. A victory would not only secure the conference title but also bolster their resume as the team prepares for potential postseason play. The winner of the ACC Championship will automatically qualify for the NCAA tournament.
