Oslo, Norway – A global mobilization is underway, spurred by the awarding of the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize too Venezuelan human rights activist María Corina Machado, transforming the recognition into a collective tribute to the Venezuelan people and thier pursuit of freedom. Dubbed “The Nobel is Ours,” the movement will culminate in a series of events in Oslo, Norway, and coordinated demonstrations worldwide.
The central event in Oslo will be a torchlit march on December 10th,beginning at 6:15 pm,culminating at 7:00 pm in front of the norwegian parliament (Stortinget). The march follows a welcome and presentation at 5:45 pm.Organizers emphasize this is the core of a global effort, a “call for Venezuela, for truth and for freedom.” Simultaneous activities are planned in cities internationally, with details available through official country channels.
Beyond the march, events include a meeting of Venezuelans in Oslo at the MESH Event Center on December 10th, requiring prior registration, intended as a space for celebration, exchange, and unity.The Nobel Peace Center will also host the inauguration of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize exhibition on december 11th, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, with an official presentation dedicated to the upcoming prize.
Organizers state the Nobel Peace Prize underscores that freedom in Venezuela is a global cause, asserting, ”There will be no peace provided that a regime that represses and persecutes exists.” They frame the award not solely as recognition for Machado, but as “a tribute to the Venezuelan people who have resisted with courage and hope,” encompassing mothers, youth, political prisoners, exiles, and all citizens refusing to yield.
