5-Star QB Jared Curtis Refutes Commitment Flip to Vanderbilt

Five-star quarterback Jared Curtis has denied reports suggesting he has flipped his commitment from Georgia to Vanderbilt. The news comes amid increasing speculation fueled by reports of meaningful investment in the Vanderbilt football program and Curtis’s recent visit to the Nashville campus.

Curtis, the top-ranked player in Tennessee and a Mr. Football award winner, originally committed to Georgia in August. However, recent developments at Vanderbilt – including a contract extension for head coach Clark Lea that “includes numerous assets for the program to continue Vanderbilt football’s upward trend,” according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel – sparked rumors of a potential change of heart.

The rising Vanderbilt program has seen significant success this season, largely due to the performance of current quarterback Diego Pavia, who is in Heisman Trophy discussions with 3,192 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and 826 rushing yards with nine scores. Pavia has thrived under Lea’s guidance, a factor that reportedly appealed to Curtis.

247Sports’ Andrew Ivins highlighted Curtis’s all-around abilities, noting his capacity to “make throws to every level of the field” and “create with his legs,” drawing comparisons to former Vanderbilt standout Jay Cutler in a recent scouting report.Despite the positive attention and program momentum, Curtis maintains his commitment to the Bulldogs.
