San Antonio Physician Co-Authors Landmark Traumatic Brain Injury Guidelines
SAN ANTONIO – A UT Health San Antonio scientist played a key role in developing newly released clinical practice guidelines for traumatic brain injury (TBI) care. Monica Verduzco-gutierrez, MD, contributed to the “Action Collaborative on Traumatic Brain Injury Care: Adapted Clinical Practice Guideline,” published in September 2025 in The Annals of Family Medicine and Journal of Neurotrauma.
The guidelines, developed by the Action Collaborative on TBI Care, aim to standardize and improve care for individuals affected by TBI, a leading cause of disability. “TBI,” Verduzco-gutierrez said,highlighting the widespread impact of these injuries. The comprehensive document offers evidence-based recommendations for healthcare professionals managing TBI patients across the continuum of care.
