San Antonio Physician Co-Authors Landmark Traumatic Brain Injury Guidelines

SAN ANTONIO – ⁢A UT Health San Antonio ‌scientist played a key role in‌ developing newly released clinical practice guidelines for traumatic brain ‍injury (TBI) care. Monica Verduzco-gutierrez,⁢ MD, contributed to⁣ the “Action Collaborative on Traumatic Brain Injury Care: Adapted Clinical Practice Guideline,” published ​in September 2025 in The Annals⁢ of Family Medicine and Journal of Neurotrauma.

The guidelines, developed by the Action ⁢Collaborative on TBI Care, aim to standardize and⁤ improve ⁣care for individuals affected by TBI, a leading cause of disability. “TBI,” Verduzco-gutierrez‍ said,highlighting the ‌widespread‌ impact of these injuries. The comprehensive document offers evidence-based recommendations ​for healthcare professionals managing TBI patients across the⁢ continuum of care.
