US Military Activity intensifies Near Venezuela,Despite Regional Concerns
Recent events signal escalating US military activity near Venezuela, occurring alongside heightened tensions and responses from the Maduro regime.
Two American B-52 bomber planes, identified as Bunny01 and Bunny02, were tracked by Flight Radar circling off the Venezuelan coast on Wednesday, continuing as of 12:00 PM Eastern Time. This overflight coincides with a broader deployment of US warships in the Caribbean, ostensibly for anti-drug operations, which Venezuela views as a threat to its sovereignty.
in response, the Maduro government has conducted multiple military exercises, including a recent militarization of Caracas and miranda states as part of “Independence Operation 200,” a daily deployment across several states. These exercises are directly linked to the US military presence and the stated goal of combating the “Cartel of the Suns,” which the trump management blames Maduro for supporting.
Amidst this escalating situation, Admiral Alvin Holsey, commander of the US Southern Command, visited antigua and Barbuda. He met with Prime Minister Gaston Browne to discuss caribbean security and strengthening the bilateral defense alliance between the two nations. SOUTHCOM emphasized the importance of these alliances in combating transnational criminal organizations and promoting regional stability.
However, despite the US efforts to build regional partnerships, Prime Minister browne clarified that Antigua and Barbuda will not host US military assets, maintaining a neutral stance. He stated, “Antigua and Barbuda has no interest in hosting military assets of any country. We are friends of all and enemies of no one.” This position contrasts with support expressed by other Caribbean nations for the Trump administration’s policies.
