Ubisoft Cancels Plans for Second Major Expansion to Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Ubisoft Quebec will no longer release a second major expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, according to recent company statements. This decision comes after a delay to the game’s initial DLC plans and amidst a busy development pipeline for the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
The cancellation signals a shift in Ubisoft’s strategy for Shadows, suggesting a scaling back of post-launch content. while the game will still receive updates and support, fans should not anticipate a significant narrative continuation beyond the previously released “Hidden Blade” expansion. This decision also reflects Ubisoft’s broader focus on multiple Assassin’s Creed projects, including a Black Flag remake, a multiplayer spin-off, and Assassin’s Creed: Hexe.
Previously, Ubisoft Quebec had begun early pre-production on a separate Assassin’s Creed title set in the post-U.S.Civil War period, but that project was ultimately scrapped due to concerns regarding the current U.S. political climate. The studio is now prioritizing other initiatives within the franchise.
ubisoft has already confirmed several other Assassin’s Creed projects are in development, adding to a crowded release schedule that likely influenced the decision to forgo a second Shadows expansion. The company is currently promoting black Friday deals across PlayStation, nintendo, and Xbox platforms.
