TOKI Social Housing Applications to Launch Before Year-End, Offering Hope to Millions
ANKARA - A new social housing initiative spearheaded by Türkiye‘s Housing Development Administration (TOKI) will begin accepting applications before december 31, 2023, offering a pathway to homeownership for citizens meeting specific criteria. The declaration, made by Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, signals a significant effort to address housing affordability challenges across the nation. This project arrives as housing costs continue to rise, impacting a ample portion of the Turkish population. The initiative aims to provide affordable housing options for those who have not previously owned property and meet income requirements, representing a critical intervention for families struggling to secure stable housing. The program will be available across 81 provinces, including Afyonkarahisar, agri, Ankara, Istanbul, and Van, among others.
To qualify for the TOKI social housing program, applicants must be citizens of the republic of Türkiye, at least 18 years of age, and without any existing property registered in their name.Residency requirements stipulate at least one year of continuous residence or population registration within the province for which they are applying. Furthermore, applicants must demonstrate income levels consistent with the ”narrow income category,” details of which will be released alongside the full application guidelines. The TOKI initiative builds upon existing government efforts to increase housing supply and accessibility. Established in 1984,TOKI has previously undertaken large-scale housing projects, but this latest endeavor is distinguished by its focus on low-income citizens and its nationwide scope.Vice President Yilmaz stated the program “opened a new gate of hope for citizens who had no millions of tenants and houses,” underscoring the potential impact on those previously priced out of the housing market.
Detailed application procedures and specific income thresholds will be announced in the coming weeks, with the application portal expected to open before the end of 2023. Citizens are encouraged to monitor official TOKI channels for updates and further details.
