Strong Winds Expected in Toronto as Special Weather statement Issued
TORONTO – A special weather statement is in effect for Toronto and much of southern Ontario today as strong winds are forecast to sweep through the region. Environment Canada warns that northwesterly gusts of 70 to 80 km/h are expected this afternoon and evening, following a shift from southwesterly winds earlier in the day.
The national weather agency states these gusts are powerful enough to perhaps toss unsecured objects, break tree branches, and lead to localized power outages. the statement covers cities including mississauga,Brampton,Burlington,Oakville,Hamilton,Vaughan,Richmond Hill,and Markham.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items like patio furniture and garbage bins. Drivers should exercise caution, especially on highways and exposed areas, due to potential crosswinds.
Winds are expected to subside overnight. Wednesday’s high will be around 13 °C, with a chance of showers. Thursday will be cooler,with a high of 8 °C and a 40 per cent chance of precipitation. Friday’s forecast calls for a high of 10 °C and a 70 per cent chance of showers.
