Strabane Mourns the Loss of Tommy Barr, Longtime Resident and Family Man
Strabane, County Tyrone – The community of Strabane is in mourning following the passing of Tommy Barr, a beloved resident of 2 Mountcarmel View, who died peacefully on September 4th at Woodmount Care Home. Mr. Barr’s death marks the end of a life deeply rooted in the local area and cherished by a large and loving family.
Tommy Barr was a devoted husband to the late Nellie and a much-loved father to Noel, Liam, Imelda, Teresina, and Thomas. He is also survived by his sister Eileen and brother Andrew, and will be fondly remembered by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son kieran and brother Billy.
Reposing at his home on Thursday, September 4th, from 4 p.m., the family will receive visitors wishing to pay their respects. The funeral will commence on Saturday,September 6th,with the cortege leaving his home at 2:20 p.m. for Requiem Mass at st. Mary’s Church, Melmount, at 3 p.m. Following the Mass, interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society c/o Quigley Funeral Directors, located at 1A Newtown Place, Strabane.Family time will be observed from 10 p.m. to 11 a.m. daily, and on the morning of the funeral.
