HBO’s new comedy series, The Chair Company, starring Tim Robinson, has become the network’s most-watched comedy debut in over five years.The series, which premiered Sunday night, averaged 1.4 million cross-platform viewers in the U.S. across its first three days, surpassing the debut performance of Armando Iannucci’s Avenue 5 in 2020.

the Chair Company follows Robinson’s character, William Ronald Trosper, as he investigates a conspiracy stemming from a broken chair during a business presentation. The show has seen a 32% increase in viewership since its premiere, with the most recent episode attracting over 4 million viewers in its first three days, surpassing 10 million total viewers for the series. Task is currently performing on par with Brad Ingelsby’s Mare of Easttown, averaging 6.7 million viewers per episode compared to Mare of Easttown’s 6.8 million at the same point in its run. Task centers on an FBI task force attempting to stop a series of robberies led by an unassuming family man.
