Fans of Ghosts may have noticed a subtle but significant change to Pete’s signature accessory: his arrow. What started as a prop with a realistic, albeit softened, arrow tip has evolved into a foam version, a shift driven by safety concerns and the need for seamless continuity on set.
The alteration wasn’t immediately apparent to viewers, but it became a crucial adjustment during the show’s first season. As Richie Moriarty, who plays Pete, explained, “It took a while. It took really a full season to figure out ‘How are we going to do this effectively, so that continuity isn’t disturbed, but so that it’s as cozy for me as possible and also as easy to get around for all the cast mates that I’m so close to all the time.'” The initial arrow, while not sharply pointed, presented a potential hazard, prompting the production team to prioritize cast safety. “The other thing that they changed in the arrow was, it used to be a real arrow tip. It wasn’t super sharp, but it was an arrow tip. It’s now foam, so that if it does hit someone’s eye, or, you know, whatever other body part, it’s not actually gonna poke them. It’s very soft,” a source revealed.
the change highlights the behind-the-scenes considerations that go into creating a successful and safe comedic series. Despite the prop modification, continuity remained intact-so much so that it went unnoticed by many viewers until Moriarty brought it to light. Fans interested in revisiting the series with a new outlook can stream Ghosts on Paramount+ and catch new episodes on CBS every Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
