Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway are set to reprise their iconic roles in “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” with a first look at the sequel released May 1, 2026.
The highly anticipated follow-up to the 2006 hit film will once again star Streep as the formidable Miranda Priestly and Hathaway as her initially overwhelmed, then increasingly savvy assistant, Andy Sachs. The original “The Devil Wears Prada” captivated audiences with its sharp portrayal of the high-stakes world of fashion and the complex dynamic between a demanding editor-in-chief and her ambitious young employee. Based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 best-selling novel – drawn from Weisberger’s own experiences as an assistant to Vogue editor Anna Wintour – the film became a cultural touchstone, influencing fashion and workplace narratives for years to come.
wintour herself has acknowledged the film’s impact, famously attending the premiere of the first movie dressed in Prada, admitting she initially had “absolutely no idea what the movie was going to be about.” She later described the film as “extremely entertaining” and “very funny” during a September 2025 appearance on “The New Yorker Radio Hour” podcast.
Details surrounding the plot of the sequel remain under wraps, but the return of the core cast suggests a continuation of Andy and Miranda’s story, potentially exploring the evolution of their relationship and the ever-changing landscape of the fashion industry. Production is underway, with a release date yet to be announced.
