Vietnamese Muay Thai Team Secures First Continental Medal in Decades at 2025 Asian Youth Games
Ho Chi Minh city – The Vietnamese Muay Thai team achieved a historic result at the 2025 Asian Youth Games, winning one silver and two bronze medals, marking a notable milestone for the sport in Vietnam. This success builds upon a legacy dating back to 1998, when Acupressure Jung-Tang secured a silver medal in the men’s 51kg category at the Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand.
Tran Quoc Bao of the Ho Chi Minh City Muay Thai team was a standout performer, earning a bronze medal in the men’s 48 kg category. He advanced to the semifinals after a second-round knockout of his Nepalese opponent and a strong showing against a malaysian boxer.
The team’s achievements are a testament to the ongoing development of Muay Thai in Vietnam, spearheaded by organizations like the Ho Chi Minh City Muay Thai Federation.Giap Trung thang, currently Vice President and Secretary General of the Federation and former head coach of the National Muay Thai Team (2009-2022), has been instrumental in building a foundation for the sport, leading the national team in three World Games (2017, 2022, 2025).
the Vietnamese delegation at the games, which concluded October 31, secured a total of five silver and six bronze medals.
