Neurologists & Cardiologists to Host Phone Campaign Addressing Syncope
Kaiserslautern, Germany – Five specialists from the West Palatinate Clinic will dedicate time on Thursday, September 11th, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. to answer public questions regarding syncope – the medical term for fainting – via a dedicated telephone campaign. The initiative aims to provide accessible details about this common, yet possibly serious, condition.
Syncope affects approximately 35 percent of Germans at some point in their lives, according to the West Palatinate Clinic. While often benign, a sudden loss of consciousness can signal underlying health concerns, particularly in older individuals or those with pre-existing medical conditions. Doctors emphasize that syncope can be a warning sign triggered by factors ranging from vegetative nervous system disorders and constricted blood vessels to cardiac arrhythmias and medication side effects, and can sometimes be confused with epileptic seizures.
