Suspicious Package Containing Powder and Anti-Trump Propaganda Investigated at Joint Base Andrews
JOINT BASE ANDREWS, MD – A suspicious package containing powder and political materials critical of President Donald Trump prompted an investigation by special agents at Joint Base andrews on thursday, according to CNN, citing sources within the military. The incident did not disrupt operations at the base, including those related to Air Force One.
The finding raises security concerns at a location frequently used by the President and other high-ranking officials for travel, just days after Trump returned from a trip to Florida and ahead of a planned departure to Mar-a-Lago on Friday. The Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) has taken over the investigation, focusing on the origin and intent behind the package.
Joint Base Andrews confirmed responding to the incident in a statement, noting that a person opened a package deemed suspicious. CNN reports the package included not only an unidentified powder but also propaganda materials specifically targeting President Trump and his policies.
A senior U.S. official stated that flight operations were not interrupted and that neither Air Force One nor the base’s overall functionality were impacted. The base, located approximately 30 minutes from the White House in Maryland, serves as a primary transportation hub for the President and key government personnel.
The incident occurred following Trump’s Wednesday arrival at the base after attending an economic conference in Florida. His scheduled departure Friday for Mar-a-Lago remains unchanged as of this report.Investigators are working to determine the composition of the powder and the source of the anti-Trump materials.
