“This Is How We Fix It”: Peaky Blinders Star Stephen Graham Launches Global Letter-Writing Project for Fathers and Sons
LONDON – Actor Stephen Graham, known for his roles in Peaky Blinders and This Is England, has launched a global project encouraging fathers to write letters to their sons. The initiative, detailed in a new book published by Bloomsbury, aims to foster open communication and address growing concerns about harmful ideologies influencing young men.
The project invites fathers to share their experiences, vulnerabilities, and hopes for their sons, with the collected letters forming a powerful resource. Graham collaborated with author Joe klein on the project, motivated by anxieties surrounding the increasing exposure of young boys to misogynistic and extremist content online.
Recent research highlights the scale of the problem: a Vodafone study found 69% of boys aged 11-14 have encountered online posts promoting misogyny, while NSPCC research revealed 42% of parents report their sons repeating inappropriate comments learned online.
Bloomsbury described the project as having the potential to ignite a “genuine social and cultural movement.” Graham and klein will donate proceeds from each published letter to MANUP? and Dad La Soul, organizations dedicated to supporting young men’s mental health.
