Steelers‘ T.J.Watt Poised to Reach Historic AFC North Sack Total
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt is on the verge of becoming the fastest player to reach 100 sacks in AFC North history, a milestone he coudl achieve in the coming weeks. The 31-year-old defensive standout recorded a sack against the Cincinnati Bengals on november 26, 2023, bringing his career total to 96.5.
Watt’s recent performance – including sacks in games against the New England Patriots and during the Steelers’ overseas game in Dublin,Ireland – highlights his continued dominance. As the Steelers currently led the AFC North with a 5-2 record, surpassing the Baltimore Ravens (who are favored by many sportsbooks), Watt’s pursuit of this record coincides with the team’s push for a division title. A win against the Browns and Bengals in the next two weeks, coupled with bengals losses, could extend Pittsburgh’s lead to 4.5 games.
The Steelers didn’t enter the 2023 season as the AFC North favorites, but currently hold a lead over the division. Watt’s ability to consistently pressure opposing quarterbacks is a key factor in their success. This season, he has amassed 19 tackles, three sacks, five tackles for loss, a fumble recovery, and an interception.
Reaching 100 sacks would cement Watt’s legacy as one of the premier pass rushers in NFL history and further solidify his impact on the AFC North. he turned 31 years old just before his game against the Browns, perhaps adding extra motivation to achieve this historic feat.
