Stars Shut Out Canadiens 7-0, Extend Winning Streak to Four
MONTREAL – The Dallas Stars delivered a dominant performance, blanking the Montreal Canadiens 7-0 at the Bell Center on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. The victory marks Dallas’ fourth consecutive win and their seventh straight on Montreal ice, dating back to October 30, 2018.
This decisive win solidifies the Stars’ position as a top contender in the Western Conference, while the Canadiens face mounting pressure after their second consecutive loss and four defeats in their last five games. The shutout, secured by goaltender Scott Wedgewood, underscores a growing disparity between the two franchises and sets the stage for crucial upcoming matchups for both teams as they navigate the early season.
Jason Robertson led the offensive charge with two goals,while Roope Hintz,Miro Heiskanen,Tyler Seguin,Colin Blackwell,and Alexander Petrovic each added a goal for Dallas. Radek Faksa registered three assists and Mikko Rantanen contributed with two.
The Stars broke the ice late in the first period on a power play, with Hintz and Rantanen assisting on Jason Robertson’s opening goal with 5:39 remaining. Dallas then exploded for five goals in the second period, including a pair from Robertson within a span of 99 seconds, effectively sealing the Canadiens’ fate.
Scott wedgewood stopped all 26 shots he faced to earn his 13th career shutout.Montreal’s goaltending struggled, with Jakub Dobes allowing five goals on 13 shots thru two periods before being replaced by Sam Montembeault, who made four saves in the third.
A concerning moment for the Canadiens occurred in the second period when forward Alex Newhook sustained an apparent right leg injury after a collision with the end boards following a trip by Dallas defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin.
