StarHub and Mediacorp Forge Content Partnership in Singapore
Singapore – StarHub and Mediacorp have announced a strategic partnership to broaden content offerings for audiences in Singapore, combining StarHub’s sports and entertainment portfolio with Mediacorp’s extensive local programming. The collaboration aims to deliver a more thorough and accessible entertainment experience, leveraging both companies’ strengths in technology, media, and data.
The deal unites two of Singapore’s leading media entities at a time when content distribution is rapidly evolving. StarHub, currently broadcasting all 380 Premier League matches per season thru a six-year deal secured in early 2022 that runs through the 2027-28 campaign, will integrate its offerings with Mediacorp’s established reach. This partnership impacts viewers by providing a wider range of content choices, and advertisers by offering access to a more extensive suite of advertising solutions across TV, digital, and data platforms.
StarHub airs content via its StarHub TV+, mobile, and broadband platforms, including on-demand replays. Mediacorp, as Singapore’s national media broadcaster, brings a wealth of local content and a significant audience base to the alliance.
“At StarHub, we are determined to make technology and media work better for people,” said Nikhil Eapen, StarHub’s chief executive.”By joining forces with Mediacorp, we are bringing audiences the widest, most exciting portfolio of content. From global sporting spectacles to local favourites, in ways that are simple, flexible, and accessible.”
Tham Loke Kheng, Mediacorp’s CEO, echoed this sentiment, stating, “With our combined strengths, we will be able to deliver a richer entertainment experience to our audiences in Singapore, while advertisers will gain access to the most comprehensive suite of solutions across TV, digital, and data-driven platforms for the most effective campaign outcomes.”
Details regarding the specific content sharing arrangements and launch dates for integrated offerings were not immediately disclosed. However, both companies indicated a commitment to a phased rollout of combined services.
