sir Richard Branson Mourns the Loss of Wife,Joan – A 50-Year Partnership Remembered
January 22,2024 – Sir Richard Branson is grieving the loss of his wife,Joan Templeman,who passed away at the age of 80. The Virgin Group founder announced the news on Instagram today, describing his wife of 35 years as his ”best friend,” “rock,” and “guiding light.”
The couple, who married on Sir Richard’s private Necker Island in the Caribbean in 1989, shared a remarkable 50-year partnership. Together, thay raised three children: Holly, sam, and Clare Sarah, who tragically passed away as an infant. They were also grandparents to five grandchildren.
“Heartbroken to share that Joan, my wife and partner for 50 years, has passed away,” Sir Richard wrote in his emotional post. ”She was my best friend, my rock, my guiding light, my world. Love you forever, Joan x.”

The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Tributes have begun pouring in, with Sir Richard’s son, Sam Branson, sharing his own heartfelt message. He described his mother as “the kindest, most loving, warm and abundantly generous woman to walk this Earth,” expressing deep gratitude for the privilege of being her son.
