President Sheinbaum Highlights Tamaulipas Progress, Announces New Infrastructure Projects
Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas – President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo underscored meaningful reductions in extreme poverty within Tamaulipas during her first government report presentation in the state today, alongside Governor américo Villarreal Amaya. The visit marks the first time a Mexican president has delivered a progress report after visiting all 32 entities of the Republic.
sheinbaum detailed ongoing and planned investments in tamaulipas, including 9 billion pesos allocated for hydraulic infrastructure projects over the current six-year term.Specifically, she announced the commencement of construction on the Saltillo-Nuevo Laredo passenger rail line on Tuesday, alongside the inauguration of the National Customs Agency in Nuevo Laredo. The second line of the Victoria Aqueduct, currently under construction, is expected to benefit 350,000 residents of the state capital.
Governor Villarreal emphasized the alignment of Tamaulipas’ efforts with the principles of the ”fourth transformation” and its focus on improving well-being for citizens.
Dámaso Anaya Alvarado, Rector of the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas, praised the president’s initiatives, noting the positive impact of well-being programs on families and their potential to support students’ continued education. He described the announcements as “transcendent” for regional growth and the ongoing transformation of Tamaulipas.
