A convicted sex offender with an outstanding warrant from Orange County was apprehended Tuesday afternoon by San Bernardino County deputies near the California–Arizona border. Brett Alderson, 60, was located during a traffic stop on Rio Vista Drive in Big River.
Alderson’s arrest highlights the ongoing efforts to locate and apprehend registered sex offenders who fail to comply with state regulations. Failing to register or update address information is a serious offense, potentially endangering communities. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department had issued a warrant for Alderson’s arrest due to non-compliance with sex offender registration requirements.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies identified Alderson, a resident of Needles, as the driver during the traffic stop.
