The Southern Connecticut state University volleyball team will return to the Northeast-10 Championship tournament, facing Saint Michael’s College in the quarterfinal round. This marks the Owls’ first appearance in the conference championship since 2022.
SCSU boasts an overall NE10 Championship record of 8-7, having reached the semifinal stage five times and the final twice. The program secured its sole championship title in 2018, defeating AIC in the final, and finished as runner-up in 2017.This year’s quarterfinal matchup presents an opportunity to extend that legacy.
In their most recent contest, Sarah Stark contributed six kills, while Katie Bardak registered two blocks. Dylan marney led the team with three service aces, supported by Mitchell with two and Sartell with one.
A look back at recent tournament history reveals the Owls’ competitive spirit: 2009 saw a quarterfinal upset over New Haven before falling in the semifinals; 2012 resulted in another semifinal appearance; 2017 culminated in a championship final loss to New Haven.The 2018 championship win was followed by quarterfinal exits in 2019 and 2021, and a semifinal loss to Adelphi in 2022. The Owls will aim to build on this history as they enter the 2023 tournament.
