San Diego County Reports Six Traffic Fatalities in Recent Weeks
San Diego, CA – Authorities have released the names of six individuals who died in separate traffic collisions across San Diego County over the past several weeks. The incidents, investigated by the County Medical Examiner’s Office and the California Highway Patrol, highlight the ongoing dangers of roadways in the region.
The most recent death occurred last Thursday shortly before 10 p.m. when 38-year-old Alyssha Karup-Joseph of San Diego was ejected from a vehicle on Interstate 15 near state Route 76 in Fallbrook. She was transported to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where she died the following morning.
On wednesday at approximately 6:40 p.m.,23-year-old Jad Farner of Oceanside died at the scene after his motorcycle collided with a stopped SUV in the 500 block of North Melrose Drive in Vista.
A day earlier, on October 28th, Santos Griego, 47, was fatally injured when his BMW 850i left state Route 163 near Friars Road in Linda Vista, struck a tree, and caught fire. He was pronounced dead at Sharp Memorial Hospital shortly after arrival.
Michael Almedina, 32, of San Diego, died at Sharp Memorial Hospital after a motorcycle-sedan collision at Balboa and Eckstrom avenues in Clairemont Mesa on October 26th at approximately 10:45 p.m.
Earlier that same day, shortly before 4:30 a.m., Roberto Jimenez Jr., 26, of San Diego, was killed in a hit-and-run crash on state route 125 in La Mesa.Jimenez was a passenger in a Nissan Sentra that struck a parked Mercedes-Benz; the Nissan’s driver fled the scene on foot.
Additionally, Jesus Contreras, 54, of Apple Valley, San Bernardino County, succumbed to injuries sustained in a September 28th collision on state Route 76 near Magee Road in the Pala area. he died on October 23rd after 25 days in Palomar Medical Center. His wife died at the scene of that crash; her name has not been released.
These incidents underscore the risks associated with driving and the importance of road safety. Investigations into each collision are ongoing.
