Ryan Day’s Son, RJ Day, Faces Setback in Playoff Loss

COLUMBUS, Ohio – RJ Day, quarterback for Columbus St.Francis DeSales and son of Ohio⁢ State head‌ coach Ryan Day, experienced a ⁢difficult end to⁣ his‍ junior season Friday night as teh Stallions ‌fell to Massillon Washington, 48-14, in the Division II, Region 7 playoffs.

coming off a record-breaking performance where he threw for 482 yards – including a game-winning touchdown and three‍ scores total ⁤- in a‍ previous playoff victory against Ashland, Day struggled against a ‍strong Massillon defense. He ⁤was intercepted twice and completed one touchdown pass, a fourth-quarter connection with ‌junior⁤ wide receiver Dax Middleton that brought the score to 41-14.

Early in the game, Day primarily completed ⁢short passes, with his longest completion of‍ the first half going for 15 yards to junior running⁢ back Kaleb Johnson.Massillon capitalized on Day’s two second-quarter interceptions to build ‍a 27-14 ⁢halftime ‌lead.

Despite attempts‌ to extend plays with his speed‍ – ‍resulting in one late hit personal foul penalty – Day faced consistent pressure throughout the second half ⁢as Massillon focused on ‍running the ball. He was sacked once.

RJ Day, the eldest of Ryan Day’s three children, recently visited Purdue university as a member of the 2027 recruiting ‌class, coinciding with Ohio State’s game‌ against the boilermakers. He has not yet received a rating from‌ major recruiting services.
