Rick and Morty Confirms Series’ End at Oni Press After Decade-Long Run
After more than 100 issues and a decade of interdimensional adventures, Oni Press is bringing its run of Rick and Morty comics to a close with the upcoming series, Rick and Morty: The End. the proclamation signals the end of a significant partnership that has expanded the universe of the hit animated show into a thriving comic book franchise.
The final storyline, penned by Daniel Kibblesmith (Loki) with art by Jarrett Williams (Speed Force), will see Rick Sanchez, the most wanted man across multiple universes, pursued by a vast array of adversaries-from governments and bounty hunters to religious institutions and even circus clowns. Morty Smith is tasked with capturing his grandfather, but faces competition from a variant, “Space Beth” Smith, equally determined to bring Rick in. According to Oni Press, “THIS TITLE IS NOT SOME KIND OF ARTFUL METAPHOR, FOLKS!” indicating a definitive conclusion to the comic series.
The new series, Rick and Morty Versus the Universe, sets the stage for The End by establishing a conflict with both the original universe and the “parmesan Universe”-a reality identical to their own except for the pronunciation of “Parmesan” as “par-mee-zee-an.” The bounty on Rick’s head draws every conceivable entity into the hunt, setting up a potentially “fantastically fatal finale” for the comic book iteration of the characters.
Rick and Morty: The End #1 is scheduled for release on December 3, 2025. The conclusion will mark the end of Oni Press’s publishing license for the Rick and Morty franchise.
