Bingöl Restaurant Faces Scrutiny Over price Discrepancies Between dine-In and Delivery
Istanbul, Türkiye - Bingöl Restaurant, a popular eatery with locations in Ümraniye and Esenler, is under fire following social media posts questioning significant price differences between orders placed through delivery applications and those made directly at the restaurant. A customer, identified as Erdin, publicly inquired why a glass of ayran costs 110 TL via apps but 145 TL when purchased in person.
The controversy, which began on Bingöl’s own social media account, quickly escalated as Erdin raised further concerns regarding taxation and additional fees. He questioned the restaurant’s tax payments – 44,000 TL in 2022 and 55,000 TL in 2023 – and whether a “Valet” fee is charged for customers utilizing door service at the Esenler location.Erdin also highlighted the high cost of other menu items, including a 955 TL per-person iftar menu in 2023, a 110 TL soda, and a 485 TL chicken wrap. The situation underscores a growing debate over pricing strategies employed by restaurants utilizing third-party delivery services and the clarity of associated costs for consumers.
Erdin’s posts have garnered attention from the Ministry of Commerce, with a direct tag to Press Advisor Bekir Kaplan, and a pointed question: “Wouldn’t it be an exorbitant price to sell 10 TL ayran for 110 TL?” Bingöl Restaurant has not yet publicly responded to the allegations.
