Resident Evil requiem Producer Discusses Save Room Music & Potential Outbreak ‍Revival

February 26, 2026 – ‍ capcom producer Masachika Kawata discussed the progress of Resident Evil Requiem, including the iconic save room music and the inclusion of‌ characters‌ from the previously dormant Outbreak series, in a recent interview. The ‍game is slated to ⁢launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Switch 2, and PC on⁣ February 26, 2026.

When asked about the ⁤beloved save room music, Kawata confirmed its return, stating, “Yes, like the past, we‌ will have‌ a safe room‍ music that’s going⁣ to be there. I didn’t hear it exactly from ‍the‍ sound team, but what I ⁢can say ⁣is ⁢that we made sure that the⁢ song will sound⁤ fresh. It’ll make the players feel refreshed.” He expressed a⁤ desire to hear ⁢directly from the sound team regarding the design process.

The interview ‌also touched upon the inclusion ⁢of characters from Resident Evil Outbreak. Kawata acknowledged fan interest in a potential revival of‍ the Outbreak series, but ⁣cautioned, “Unfortunatly, at the moment we don’t have ⁢any plans of making games ⁢like those. But‍ maybe ‍if there are lots of user needs or there’s a need from the gamers or they ‍want ⁣more ‌like Outbreak, then maybe yes.” He personally expressed enthusiasm for‌ revisiting the style of game, adding,”I personally would like Outbreak and maybe ‍eventually down the road I would like to make one,but at the moment,no.”

Kawata clarified that prior knowledge of Resident Evil Outbreak is ‍not required to enjoy Requiem, noting that the ‍only relevant connection is that‍ the‌ main character, Grace ‍Ashcroft, is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, a character featured in Outbreak.‌

The ‍interview was conducted with a translator, and ‌some answers have been ⁢edited for readability.
