Pakistan Launches Cross-Border Strikes Targeting Alleged Militant Hideouts in Afghanistan
Kabul, Afghanistan – October 10, 2025, 08:17 GMT – pakistan’s military conducted a series of aerial strikes within Afghanistan early today, targeting locations it claims housed militants responsible for recent attacks on Pakistani soil. The strikes, utilizing drones and fixed-wing aircraft, reportedly hit areas within the provinces of Khost and paktika, near the border.
The Pakistani military stated the operation, codenamed “Azm-e-Istehkam” (Determination for Stability), was a response to escalating cross-border terrorism and aimed to eliminate a specific, long-sought enemy. Pakistani officials allege the targeted individuals were key figures in the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a militant group responsible for numerous attacks against Pakistani security forces and civilians. The strikes represent a significant escalation in tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban-led government in Afghanistan, which has condemned the attacks as a violation of its sovereignty.
This action follows a surge in militant activity within Pakistan, particularly in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. Pakistani authorities have repeatedly accused the Afghan Taliban of providing sanctuary to TTP fighters, a claim the Taliban government denies. The strikes underscore Pakistan’s growing frustration with the Taliban’s perceived inability or unwillingness to address the threat posed by groups operating from Afghan territory. Further retaliatory measures are anticipated should attacks originating from Afghanistan continue.
