OTTAWA – The ottawa REDBLACKS completed a stunning comeback victory over the BC Lions on Friday night, prevailing 34-33 after a game-tying touchdown catch with just 17 seconds remaining. The improbable win unfolded before a shocked crowd at TD place, marking a meaningful shift in the canadian football League’s east Division standings.
This result delivers a critical momentum swing for Ottawa,who faced a late-game deficit against a strong Lions team. The victory keeps the REDBLACKS firmly in the playoff hunt, while concurrently halting the Lions’ momentum as they vie for top spot in the West. The two teams will quickly rematch in Week 15, offering BC an immediate opportunity for retribution.
The Lions initially built a lead, fueled by four field goals from Sean Whyte. Ottawa responded with touchdowns from Justin Hardy – including a 13-yard rushing score – adn a two-point conversion completed by Stanback, narrowing the gap to three points midway through the fourth quarter.
Whyte’s missed 46-yard field goal attempt late in the game ignited the REDBLACKS’ comeback. A 38-yard return by Pimpleton, followed by a 15-yard penalty against Carl Meyer for unnecessary roughness, positioned Ottawa deep in lions territory. Quarterback Crum capitalized with a 52-yard pass to Pimpleton, setting up the dramatic game-tying touchdown reception by Lewis.Ward successfully converted the extra point, securing the one-point lead.
