Omoda 4: new Compact Crossover Set to Disrupt European Market

Milan,Italy – Chery‘s Omoda brand is expanding its lineup with the upcoming launch of the Omoda 4,a compact crossover poised to challenge established players in the European market.Previewed recently at chery headquarters, the Omoda 4 is slated to arrive in Italian dealerships between October and November 2026, with a starting price around 20,000 euros. Originally intended to be named the Omoda 3, a last-minute decision resulted in the model being designated the Omoda 4.
The arrival of the omoda 4 signals Chery’s aggressive push into the competitive European crossover segment, offering a perhaps compelling blend of hybrid technology and striking design at a competitive price point. This launch is notably meaningful as it represents a direct attempt to gain market share from established brands and cater to a growing demand for fuel-efficient and stylish vehicles. Full Hybrid Power
The Omoda 4 will initially be offered with a full hybrid powertrain,combining a 1.5-liter petrol engine producing 204 CV with an electric motor. The system prioritizes electric drive at lower and medium speeds,with the petrol engine primarily functioning as a generator to power the electric motor. At higher, constant speeds, the 1.5-liter engine directly assists in driving the front wheels.
Expanding the Range: Plug-in and Electric Options
Beyond the full hybrid, omoda plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid variant featuring a larger battery and an anticipated electric range of approximately 90 km. A petrol-only version, equipped with the 1.5-liter engine producing around 140 HP and an automatic transmission, is also planned. Completing the lineup will be a fully electric Omoda 4, boasting 204 HP, a 67 kWh battery, and a declared average range of 450 km. This electric model supports fast charging up to 119 kW, allowing for a battery recharge in just over 20 minutes under optimal conditions.
Bold Design and Practical Interior
The Omoda 4 distinguishes itself with angular design cues,particularly at the front,lending it a distinctive and assertive appearance. The interior offers a spacious cabin with wide, moderately supportive seats and a flat rear floor. However, the trunk capacity is estimated at around 350 liters, featuring a relatively high load floor.
